Fusion Power
One of the most important issues today is the
increasing demand for
energy. The global population will also face many other
challenges in the years ahead, including
fresh
water shortages and
climate change. Successful
fusion power will
be able to solve many of these problems. It would enable
electric cars to run off clean energy, rather than electricity
generated from coal power plants. The leading research project
ITER, which stands for
International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor, has set ambitious
goals and has taken considerable steps to achieving them. For more

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
Also known as drones, unmanned aerial vehicles are
at the forefront of the advancing field of aerospace. Without the
need to support a pilot, these aircraft can be lighter and more
maneuverable. They also have a host of other
advantages.
The US agency DARPA
has developed a
scramjet UAV called
Falcon HTV-2. This amazing aircraft reached a speed of
Mach 22 during its maiden test flight. The
nEUROn, a long-range stealth UAV, is currently being developed
in France by
Dassault
Aviation. UAVs have great potential for civilian
applications, as well, including commercial aerial surveillance and
scientific research.
